Summary of issues discussed:
· Officers were appointed under the new rules governing the operation of cross party groups
· Patient reference groups in Powys – the group agreed to write to Powys LHB to ask how patients can engage with the health board
· Insulin pumps and numbers of Diabetes Specialist Nurses and access to specialist medical technology
· Potential sib groups on pumps and inpatient care
· Discussion about when the Diabetes National Clinical lead to be appointed

Summary of issues discussed:
· Response not received from Powys re patient engagement. The group agreed to write to the Minister about it. Further discussion of role of Diabetes Planning and Delivery Groups and Community Health Councils
· Improving Primary Care: GPs Armon Daniels & Kamila Hawthorne both gave presentations to the group on the Rumney & Butetown experiences
· European Diabetes Leadership Forum: Report back by Jenny Rathbone

Summary of issues discussed:
· Robert Wright advised members he had presented the Petitions Committee with a petition calling on Powys LHB to re-instate the DPDG and PRG. The Group welcomed the revised position of the Health Board.
· Dr Julia Platts; National Clinical Lead for Diabetes gave an outline of recent developments and set the scene for the priorities in the first year. At present the All Wales Implementation Groups (AWIG) is pulling together recommended standards from the Diabetes Delivery Plan (DDP) and will have actions to recommend to all Health Board Chief Executives.
· Sub group updates – Updates received on Inpatient Care and insulin pumps It was agreed that to avoid any duplication of work, Julia would report to the sub group and the sub group would report to the CPG. agreed that Diabetes UK would look into how they can capture patient experiences.
